David Nail |
David Nail, nominee
for the single record of the year, for his song “Red Light” will perform
at the 2010 Clark County Fair. Saturday, July 24, 7 pm, in the Big
Tent, David will entertain the fair goers with his own brand of country
music.
Nail, son of a former high school band
director, cut his musical teeth on a record collection that included
Stevie Wonder, Elton John and the Beatles. “Elton John was one of the
main reasons I started singing, and is still a tremendous influence,” he
says. “I think he and the Beatles are probably two of the greatest
melody makers of all time.” Then he moved on to country: “I ‘discovered’
country music in the early 90’s along with everyone else my age,” he
says. “But I guess I kind of got more obsessive than everybody else. I
found myself looking back as far as the late ‘60s and early ‘70s,
exposing myself to some of the biggest stars of that era. It was then
that I fell in love with Glen Campbell, who is still one of my all-time
favorites.”
From the first listen, Nail realized an
affinity for single “Red Light” and the catchy “Summer Job Days”,
co-written by Rascal Flatt’s Gary LeVox, both of which he was drawn to
in a way all his own. “’Red Light’ shows a different perspective of a
break up,” he says. “It’s not your typical situation since it describes
a beautiful day and everything
seeming to be
perfect, but that’s what makes it unique.” |

Richard Carey Project |
The Richard
Carey Project is a contemporary Christian group dedicated to spreading
the gospel of the Lord to it’s expanding audience. The power of the Lord
is reflected in the remarkable songs created by talented front man Rich
Carey. These songs embrace and emphasize Richard’s deep Christian faith
and values. It is amazing that Rich somehow finds the time to write
contemporary Christian music considering his demanding life as local
Probate Judge, dedicated father and husband! In addition, RCP includes
some of the areas best musicians that embellish each performance with
colorful textures, dramatic solos and beautiful backing vocals. This
band has a great chemistry and puts a special “drive and energy” into
each live performance! The Richard Carey Project has opened for many
well-known Christian bands such as MercyMe and Audio Adrenaline and has
contributed to a variety of benefit concerts in the local Springfield
community. |

"Most people don't believe me, when I tell them I
was very shy at a younger age," because of his high energy shows
today. Considering himself not only shy but very awkward, staying home
most of the time until he was sixteen, then all of a sudden he came out
of his shell and lost his shyness. While out with some friends, they
encouraged Gene to get up and sing, and the response he received
reminded him of how people responded to his father. That same feeling
keeps Gene performing still today!
